AWARENESS GROUP LESSONS THROUGH MOVEMENT
Awareness Through Movement (ATM) classes are how the Feldenkrais Method is taught to groups.
THROUGH MOVEMENT
AWARENESS
In the Feldenkrais Method® you are given several different options for how to combine different materials for a particular movement. This allows each individual to act according to their own body and learning style. By learning at your own pace, you have the freedom to make personal discoveries and manage the development process.
One of the strengths of the method is that, guided by your own inner feelings about what feels most comfortable and easy, you are encouraged to make your own choices. Whatever moves you discover, you will be encouraged to work in the comfortable and easy range in which you are currently moving. You will have the freedom to listen to all the sensations that accompany your suppressed movement, avoiding discomfort and tension, normally focusing on some external goal.
There is nothing special to wear or bring, just warm comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. The ability to give your full attention to the physical sensations you have as a result of the movements you will discover in a "comfortable" garment you will gain freedom. "Warm" clothes or even a blanket can help a lot, as the movements are often small and slow. Because being cold can also prevent you from giving your full attention to yourself while moving.

GROUP LESSONS
HOW TO DO?
ATM lessons usually take about 40-60 minutes. Most classes are held comfortably on a mat on the floor. You usually lie on your back, side or stomach, but there are also lessons that you do while sitting and standing on the floor or in a chair.
Each Feldenkrais ATM (Functional Integration) class offers a coherent set of movements that target a specific function, such as walking, standing, sitting, reaching. These movements come together like a puzzle and affect different parts of the body in a holistic way. The moves you discover in a lesson can sometimes be easy and sometimes more challenging. Whatever the case, the movements are broken down into small, manageable steps and you are guided through these steps, without the pressure to be particularly successful at anything. In fact, you don't even need to do the movements correctly to benefit because the focus of ATM lessons is; "take care of yourself" is the process. Improving your ability to take care of yourself can benefit you in every area of your life.
Another notable feature of the method is that you are not told or shown how to do a move correctly. My role is to verbally guide you through the various steps in a lesson, constantly adapting the instructions. Thus, no praise or correction is given to anyone while ensuring everyone is moving towards the intended progress.Students often tend to close their eyes to better focus on their inner world of sensations and block out visual distractions. That way, they can continue their learning experience at their own pace.
COMMENTS
“It has been 4 years since I met the Feldenkrais method.
It was a great chance for me to come across this method. In the first lessons, I was able to do 15 minutes of the lesson. Most of my body was stiff. He was diagnosed with Morbus Bechtere.
At the end of 4 years, the area on my left shoulder blade, which was stiff, was opened. Now I can use my left arm easily. With the Feldenkrais method, my posture, my walking, my turning everything got better. This method is Great Bisey, where you encounter surprises in your body. Fun . It is a therapy that you do with your soul, body and mind.
I would love for everyone to get acquainted with this method.
Because if you start healthy, life will always go healthy.”

"When I first started the lessons, there were many moments when I felt that one of my limbs was longer than the other. Awareness was increasing in the parts where I was moving and I felt that that area was long or large. As time passed, permanent relief occurred in the areas where the movement was made. My muscles that I did not move moved and pain occurred for a short time, then I noticed that the angles of motion increased.
Every week I feel a little more relaxed. My awareness has increased in general. I always waited for the new lesson with curiosity to see what would happen next week. I am very satisfied, and I want it to continue. I wish that more people deserve to benefit from this beautiful program and that it reaches more people."
